SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23 FROM 10-2
The Crestwood woods really took a beating during this season's storms. Join us Sunday, October 23 from 10-2 for a workday to clean up dead branches, add wood chips to the trails, repair the broken fence and more. Families are welcome! There will be tasks for all ages and abilities.
Some of you may have noticed that there was no Stone Soup at back-to-school night. Some of you may have wondered what happened to the bike blender! Because the ice cream social was moved to the same night as the school's open house, we made some changes to the plan for Stone Soup.
This fall, Crestwood students harvested vegetables from the garden and chopped them for soup with the Gardener-in-Residence. Families contributed more vegetables and seasonings, and then volunteers from the Healthy Snacks committee made the soup during the school day so it could be served as an option at lunchtime. This way, all students in attendance had the opportunity to try Stone Soup during the school day, some in their classrooms and some in the lunchroom. It was a true community effort.
Many thanks to all the families who contributed ingredients, and special thanks to Sara Hagen and Kari Speltz from the Healthy Snacks Committee for coordinating this activity and cooking the soup the day it was served.
