At Crestwood, we have a long tradition of making Stone Soup with our fall garden harvest and contributions from families, and then sharing it with the school community. This year, we will be cleaning and chopping root vegetables on Monday, October 3 and preparing soup at the school on the morning of Tuesday, October 4. The entire school will share the Stone Soup at lunchtime in the cafeteria. Please note that stone soup will NOT replace the regular lunch, but will instead be an extra option during lunch time. Students will need to order hot lunch or bring cold lunch from home just like any other day.
Making Stone Soup is a true community effort. Planning this project is a joint effort of the Outdoor Education and Healthy Snacks committees, along with our Gardener-in-Residence. We need VOLUNTEERS Monday and Tuesday morning October 3 and 4 to assist with prepping the vegetables and cooking the soup. Please contact Sara Hagen or Kari Speltz OR send us a message on Facebook (we're CrestwoodOE there) if you are available during either of those times and are willing to help with this project.
We also need DONATIONS OF CUT UP VEGETABLES* AND SEASONINGS to make the soup as delicious as possible! Send your donation with your child to school TUESDAY MORNING OCTOBER 4 so it can be included in the soup.
*No carrots or potatoes, please, as Crestwood students have already harvested about a bushel of each from the school garden!
