We started by planting bulbs in rows sorting by what kind the flowers were. We had to plant the pointy side up. We planted: tulip, crocus, Dutch iris, & daffodil bulbs. When we were done we finely dug holes for the bulbs. Before we even went out there we measured & weighed our bulbs. I measured & weighed my crocus bulb. My bulb’s circumference was 8 cm & it weighed 3g. We had to plant the bulbs 6 inches deep and apart. The ground was muddy & hard to dig in. My hole kept caving-in.
This week, Crestwood second graders planted flower bulbs in the circle garden in front of the school. Here is what one student from Ms. Curtin's class wrote about this activity: We started by planting bulbs in rows sorting by what kind the flowers were. We had to plant the pointy side up. We planted: tulip, crocus, Dutch iris, & daffodil bulbs. When we were done we finely dug holes for the bulbs. Before we even went out there we measured & weighed our bulbs.
